Embassy of India in the Dominican Republic and Foundation Tierra Blanca announced in a joint Press Conference on 25th April 2024 that India will be the Guest Country at 11th Neiba International Book Fair, to be held from 3-6 Oct 2024.
On 24 April 2024, Ambassador Ramu Abbagani and other Embassy officials held a meeting with the Director of the National Council of Free Export Zones, Mr. Daniel Liranzo, where they discussed the possibility of attracting Indian companies to invest in the free zones of the Dominican Republic.
The Embassy of India in Dominican Republic held the Opening Ceremony of CinemaScope India Film Festival 2024 on 26th April 2024 at OASES Auditorium in collaboration with INTEC University's department of Filmmaking and Screenwriting. Oscar winning film RRR subtitled in Spanish was screened at the Festival's opening night, which will be followed by screening of one film per month till July 2024.
Ambassador Ramu Abbagani inaugurated on 8th April 2024, the 5-day annual cultural festival Namaste India Week at Agora Mall in Santo Domingo, which lasted from 8 to 12th April and featured Indian Cuisine, Kriya Yoga workshops, Meditation and Yogasanas for Health, the Play 'Nachiketa' and Indian classical Dance Odissi performances, Lectures and Talks on Ayurveda, Henna and Sari experience stalls & photo booth, Tourism and Travel to India booth, Indian handicrafts and accessories counter, Ayurveda products stall etc.
Ambassador Ramu Abbagani inaugurated the 28th Ecotourism and Production Fair in Sabana de la Mar on April 4, 2024 in which India is the Guest Country, featuring Indian culture, Trade and Commerce as well as promotion of India Tourism, as part of the celebrations marking 25 years of Diplomatic Relations between India and the Dominican Republic.
Ambassador Ramu Abbagani and Mr. Rafael Santos Badia, Director General of INFOTEP University awarding certifications to Yoga teachers trained by the Embassy of India in the Dominican Republic in the fields of bhakti yoga, katma yoga and astanga yoga, during the Certification Ceremony on 4th April 2024 at INFOTEP University.
